The Book of Job

The Book of Job is similar to the other stories we read in the Old Testament. Most of the stories include God choosing a human which he will then make suffer. He does this by putting them through a series of tests. And just as their ready to give up he will stop and try to make it right with them. I think one reason why he does this is to reassure himself that the people he made are more loyal to him than anything or one else. But why would he need to do this? Isn't he supposed to be almighty. The man who knows everything? If God made humans from himself and he does not believe in them, does he not believe in himself? An example of this occurring in The Book of Job is when God makes a bet with Satan saying that if you take away all of the good things in Jobs life he would still be loyal and faithful. The deal is set and they start to take away his animals, family, and himself by placing sores all over his body, head to toe. Another way God tortures his people is when he goes and tells Abraham to kill his son Isaac for the ultimate sacrifice and show his loyalty for god. Just as Abraham is about to stab his son God comes and tells him that he knows that Abraham will always be faithful.
